Undichter Tank / Leaking Tank! Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

  A L A R M - S O S !

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Also, war sehr grosse Eile geboten!

It was a hard work!

 "UNWETTER-WARNUNG"!

"Bitte fahren Sie nicht raus !!!"

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Nord-Ostsee-Kanal:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Jaja, voll erwischt! Was sollte uns jetzt noch erschüttern?

Also alles "in Butter"!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

  D A N K E !    Thanks to

Klaus Dieter from TIBUS - Boote - IMPORT > RHUMSPRINGE / Germany

Liebe Grüsse Sonia und Oliver

The story of LEGENDE (english)

Visitors Counter Besucher / Visitantes

Since beginning  just a "L E G E N D (-E)"

  (At first: S O R R Y for my HORRIBLE english!!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We found LEGEND in the end of the year 2003 - LEGENDE was living more than 23 years in a big closed and dry hall. The 1. owner, a german boat dealer, Mister Tibus, bought the CCC 41 for himself - but he hasn't never time to go out with the CCC41 >> Never in 23 years!!

He takes a good care of LEGENDE in all the years - till his death - (.......)

The widow, Miss Tibus, sold LEGENDE in December 2003 - she and Klaus-Dieter (the new boat dealer) moved Legende out of the hall and brought LEGENDE to the Baltic Sea ( nearly 200 kilometres) with a complicated transport (look the 1. folder).

12 Hours ( TWELVE !!) only they are moving the engines, the first time in the life from LEGENDE and also

WE BOUGHT LEGENDE WITH ...

  ... ONLY  12  OPERATING  HOURS !!

Incredible! Isn`t it !??

The bed was still in the original wrapping from 1979!

So we have to bring LEGENDE to the Mediterranean Sea - and we must bring LEGENDE to Bremen (it is a city in the middle of Germany - there will start a big Transport-Ship to the Isle of Mallorca)

We prepared the boat with all the things we need for the little trip. Klaus-Dieter, who knows the first owner and LEGENDE will come with us till BREMEN - because he want to see, that all things will be good on the ship and show us all the important things...

We fill up the tanks one day before we want to leave the harbor in the Baltic Sea. Two hours later we saw a very big

D I S A S T E R !

H E L P !!!!!

one of the thanks, is

L E A K I N G !!

(S...!)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Oliver and Klaus Dieter removed the wooden bed, and a good guy comes to pump up the diesel oil completly and than we removed the first tank... BUT it was`t THIS tank, it was the other one!!! (S...!!) The same procedere....

It was a big problem, because we have to BE ON TIME to the big TRANSPORT-SHIP in Bremen! It will not waiting for us! (But we have to pay...!)

The widow, Miss Tibus and the seller Klaus-Dieter ask us: > if we want to cancel the buy....??

NO! NEVER! Oliver and me just are in love with Legende and we want to keep her!

So we have a incredible BIG DISASTER in the ship!!! HORRIBLE! It smells! We have to go in the Hotel to sleep....for a few days - and in the days we have to wait for the new tanks we cleaned the ship > it was horrible! Imagine...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This IRON - tanks hav`t never been empty! But the ship was still standing in the hall all the years and the Diesel moved up and the condensation water falls down and take up the sheet iron !!!!

  improvized tank !!

Miss Tibus bought two

NEW     STAINLESS  STEEL    TANKS !!

T A I L O R E D     P R O D U C T I O N  !!

 Wow

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We are lucky - now we can start to Bremen - we have to be there in only 3 days!! Oh oh! Hurry up!

We start early in the morning and the forecast says

>>>> STORMY WEATHER! <<<<

Warning! Don't go out!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

But we have not the time to start later and we starts!

It was a  H O R R I B L E  weather!!!

Big waves, raining and a hard wind on the Baltic Sea.... all the day! In the evening we arrive the North-East-Canal and there it was very peaceful and we slept good here. At the next day we will start from the North-East-Canal into the North Sea - it was cold (May) but better than the Baltic Sea! I stayed all the time on the flybridge in the winter coat!

We have been there, in Bremen,

  ON   T I M E,

but the big Transport Ship wasn`t there!!

(..??..) It was delatet for ONE WEEK !!!

Okay - that`s life!

Oliver and me used the time (7 days) to buy new carpet and a lot of other things we need...

One week later - in Bremen - the big Transport Ship comes and LEGENDE can be load!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Oliver and me drived with the car back to Spain ( 2000 kilometres!) and 10 days later we flight to the Isle Mallorca to welcome LEGENDE in the Royal PORT of PALMA DE MALLORCA. We needed 14 hours to the Mainland of Spain -

it was a very nice trip

  WITHOUT  any problems!

Restaurant "Xiringuito La Costa" in the middle of the sea! > english text...

Restaurant "Xiringuito De La Costa"

in the middle of the mediterranean sea!

Excursion suggestion: Xiringuito  De La Costa

www.xiringuitodelacosta.com  >>  Homepage with fotos from Sonia Oelgart

We would like to introduce an especially beautiful and exceptional excursion destination!

Were talking about a typical Spanish CHIRINGUITO (English. = Beach bar) is also spelt Xiringuito. The spelling with an X comes from Catalonia. Unfortunately there are not as many Chiringuitos along our coastline as on, for example, the Balerean islands, where they can be found on every beach and in nearly all bays. This makes the Xiringuito here on the Costa Daurada much more authentic and original; a visit to the one here is an unforgettable experience with a slightly adventurous factor! It starts off with the fact that one cannot reach it in a car or by walking there because it lies right in the middle of the Ebro Delta bay which is situated in the south. It's right in the middle of the water and built on stilts. One could say "Pile Dwelling". It's just about opposite St. Carles de la Rapitá, from the restaurant it is possible to see the harbour.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Locals and boat owner have known of the Xirinquito „La Costa" existence for over 50 years, because it's delightful to anchor in the protected bay which is surrounded by the Ebro Deltas nature preserve. Many families gather here in the summer in their motor boots and yachts and enjoy the peace and quite and let their souls „dangle", swim, or paddle with their dinghies to the nearly Xiringuito „La Costa" situated in the middie of the water for lunch.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

One thing should be quite clear, one must book a table before hand, if a table has not been booked in advance then it is more or less impossible to get a table. Don't even try;  you will probably have to stay on your boat hungry with the lovely smell of Paella passing in front of your nose and your mouth drooling at the thought of having a plateful yourself.

Larger ships are not able to dock at the piers available because the water around the restaurant is between 0,30 m and 2,50 m deep. It's no problem if you don't have your own dinghy, the founder of the Xiringuito "La Costa", Alejandro Samver Torta, will come personally with his Taxi boat and pick you up, a phone call is enough!

The location is sensational, and one is very impressed on arriving there. A large number of staff is available to take care of your needs; they are always very nice, patient and friendly, even when it is very full.

The Xiringuito "La Costa" is renowned for its marvellous Paella, therefore being not only popular amongst Spaniards. The rice for the Paella comes from where other than the rice producing region of the Ebro Delta. We have tested the Paella many times (enjoyed would be the better way of saying it) and it really does taste fantastic! Apart from fish and mussel specialities, the menu also offers various meat dishes and salads as well as homemade desserts.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

One sits pretty rustically on wooden benches at huge tables, and it doesn't bother anyone if kids park themselves nearby together with their small buckets containing fish that they have caught. Just like all over Spain, it's not that quiet, this is compensated by the wonderful view of the Ebro Delta with all the yachts lying at anchor and the mountains in the background. It's such a nice atmosphere that during the first visit one already knows that it won't be long before the second visit is planned. Those who prefer cushioned seating should bring a cushion along with them from home, we don't miss them but one shouldn't compare it with a typical normal restaurant, because one also sits here in the obvious bathing clothing, which doesn't disturb anyone at all.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The founder of the Xiringuito, Alejandro Samver Torta , who opened the Restaurant 50 years ago can still be met there. Sometimes he is seen running around with tools making quick repairs, or as already mentioned, he is personally picking guests up from their ships with is Taxi Boat after being phoned up. Sometimes he personally welcomes guests who arrive in their own dinghies. The cooking and serving of guests is left to the younger staff, but now and again he visits a table and tells the odd story.

The new owner Andres Carbo Lavafons took over the Xiringuito a few years ago and enlarged, whereby the "work rooms" were not allowed to be enlarged. Working conditions during the summer heat are more than troublesome in the kitchen, one must have great admiration for the performances of the kitchen staff. The kitchen is always open and can always be viewed. It's amazing how everyone always manages to organise things and at the same time remain cheerful.

Via numerous bridge connections it is possible to get to various small wooden houses. The toilets are in one of them, in another the electricity generator which runs 24 hours a day, but cannot be heard in the restaurant. A further hut with an open shutter is "only" used for washing up the dishes etc.

For those who would like to take a quick Siesta there are sun-loungers around the corner. Via a further bridge with wooden steps one is able to get down to the water and paddle over (with the use of bathing shoes, recommended because of the Sea Urchins) to the nearby shore for a walk.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The Xiringuito opens each year in the middle of June and is open depending on the weather until the end of September. The daily opening hours are from 10:00 hrs until 18:00 hrs and in August also on Saturday evenings from 21:00 hrs until 23:00 hrs.

Next year in 2007, it will be open in August during the evening on a daily basis. Because a table has to be booked anyway, it is better to ask about the opening times once again.

Table bookings in Spanish, 3-4 days in advance, can be made. under the

Telephone number: 616 635 541.

For all of those who are sad because they don't own a boat, we will tell you now, there is a small catamaran, a „Golondrina", in the St. Clarles de la Rapitá harbour that, on a daily basis during the Xiringuito "La Costa" opening hours, take you across in summer in the morning at 11:00 hrs and naturally pick you up again.

All in all a wonderful day trip which is well worth it and will never be forgotten by you; your family or your friends.

ABOVE: Oliver Oelgart aboard LEGENDE, three days ago, “somewhere” off Peniscola, Spain. For any new forum readers, Oliver and Sonia are the German couple who found their 41’ Commander in a German warehouse with only 12 hours on the hourmeter, after it had been in storage for many years. The boat received new tanks, and made it’s first cruise after many years of hibernation by blasting across the Baltic en route to Bremen, Germany. It was then placed on a freighter and shipped to the south of Spain where it cruises frequently now. The Oelgart's are regular contributors here on the forum, and it’s always good to see them aboard LEGENDE again! Here is a spectacular video of their first run across the Baltic on this much publicized Chris Craft Commander Flagship of the Mediterranean.

The previous owner of the Oelgart’s 41’ Chris Craft Commander ran it for 12 hours and passed away, and as a result the boat remained in a warehouse for twenty years until Oliver and Sonja Oelgart discovered and acquired it. The boat was about to be shipped on a freighter to Spain and the work had to be done quickly to meet schedules. The following thread is a great photo documentary of what it takes to do a tank replacement on this model of Chris Craft, and it also fits nicely into our ongoing discussion about fuel tanks. Thanks for the photos and the write up Sonja!

(ABOVE:) Paella anyone, served on the Mediterranean?

This great looking photo is a day or two old, directly from Spain! Oliver and Sonja Oelgart sent in a note saying "We found yesterday (50 km in the north from Peñiscola - in the EBRO- Delta, you can get to it only by boat". In this case, the boat was a 41' Commander. This is another peek into Chris Craft Commander boating in the Mediterranean off the coast of the Spanish Riviera. Oliver and Sonja have contributed many photos to the Chris Craft Commander Forum, and we are delighted to present this following thread with additional photos of another one of their outings aboard LEGENDE in this incredibly beautiful place. Wonder what time it is in Peniscola, Spain now? Click here to find out. Then check out this thread for additional photos taken earlier this week!
